During my first visit to the cathedral I was amazed by its architecture: firm, austere construction, thickness of the walls and vastness of the space. Mesmerizing light form the high, narrow windows was giving warmth to that monumental interior. Inspired by that, my installation was ment to be an architectural element – a column thou immaterial, body reacting to the movement of the air and light.
Material I used was also a quotation derived from that place: red and white striped warning tape was used all over the monastery complex that was being partially renovated. Another purpose to use that tape was a contrast that I needed to gain the proper effect: the opposition to the yellowish interior, an eye-catcher in that enormous space.
